Community Garden Registration
Waskasoo Community Gardens: Establishing the Ground Rules
There are ten plots and they will be assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis to Waskasoo residents and organizations i.e. schools, daycare, etc. If they are not filled, they will be open for the general public.
There will be a fee of $10 for each plot. The WCA will notify you to let you know whether your registration was accepted. If you are accepted, the fee will be due by May 17th.
To be registered, you must fill out and submit a Plot Agreement (below).
All important dates will mirror those used by The City of Red Deer which for 2017 are:
March 1 – 28: 2023 gardeners can re-register
April 2 – 19: Previous renters may switch to another available plot
April 20: Remaining plots open to the general public
May 17: Gardens open for planting (Registration payment deadline for returning gardeners)
July 2: Weed It or Lose It” date
October 15: Plots close for the season
Perennial beds and orchard are open to the public to harvest. Weeding and planting of these public
areas will be done during scheduled “work bees.”
